CEUS-1033-9: Youth in the Long-Term Care Labor Force

Course Abstract:

Throughout our nation's history, generation after generation of individuals have cared for the disabled and elderly in a professional and caring manner. These caregivers may have been family members of any age or gender, they may have been privately or publicly paid employees or they may have simply been well-meaning and caring volunteers. The vast majorities of these individuals are and have been proficient and caring in their labors. Each generation of caregivers bring to their work a unique perspective on their job and, indeed, on life itself. Each has had various life experiences that have allowed them to bring a special attribute to their work. This individualized perspective allows caregivers to comfort their patient while nurturing their own need to give of themselves.
