CEUS-1031-9: Thinking Green: Resource Conservation for the Long-Term Care Administrator
Course Abstract: |
Long-term care administrators are, by the nature of their profession, accustomed to the aging process. Although the range of their duties may also involve the care of younger impaired individuals, the majority of administrators are primarily responsible for the care and treatment of our nation's aging population. The responsibilities of an Administrator are varied but generally include the oversight of the physical, emotional, and mental condition of residents entrusted to their care. Their responsibilities do not, of course, end with resident care but also include a wide range of other activities including the financial well being of the institution, the safety and security of the physical plant as well as the occupants of the facility, whether they are staff, residents or visitors. In addition to the residents, the Administrator has a responsibility for the general overall welfare of his or her staff. These are but a few of the duties of an Administrator. By using his or her education and experience as well as a large dose of good old-fashioned common sense, the Administrator can readily become attuned to the needs of the elderly and will, hopefully, allow those elderly to continue to live with dignity and meaning. |
